El cerco (the fence), is a long-term project I started in 2014. Since the first feet was built, the fence has became a character who is constantly change; it intervenes the landscape and impact the communities it passes through, and ultimately, it is altered by the different actors that converge on it. El cerco aims to document the sate of the fence, or fences, along the United States and Mexico 2,000 miles of common border. Specially after  President Donald Trump has set in motion his plan to build an "impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall" between the US and Mexico, documenting the state of the fence became pertinent.
